Tchaikovsky – Variations on a Rococo Theme
Enrico Chapela – Magnetar, Concerto for Electric Cello
Copland – Symphony for Organ & Orchestra
PERFORMERS
Nashville Symphony | Giancarlo Guerrero, conductor | Johannes Moser, cello
Enjoy a night of cello music when dynamic soloist Johannes Moser features the instrument in two very different settings: Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme is a tribute to the elegance and refinement of Mozart, featuring sparkling interplay between soloist and orchestra, while contemporary Mexican composer Enrico Chapela’s innovative Magnetar utilizes electric cello and guitar pedals to create a truly one-of-a-kind experience, equally influenced by classical and rock. The evening closes with Copland's Symphony for Organ & Orchestra, the work that helped launch his career and a showcase for the incredible sound of the Schermerhorn's Martin Foundation Concert Organ.
Come early and learn more about the music at our Classical Conversations with Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero, taking place one hour before the concert in the Balcony Lobby.
Following the concert, Maestro Guerrero will lead an informal Q&A at the back of the concert hall, on the Orchestra Level.
