PROGRAM
Vaughan Williams – Serenade to Music
Parker – Organ Concerto Live Recording
Rachmaninoff – The Bells

What does it sound like when one of Russia's greatest composers pays tribute to one of America's greatest writers? Find out when the Nashville Symphony & Chorus perform Rachmaninoff's The Bells, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem. This sweeping work captures the human experience with gorgeous writing for orchestra and chorus alike. The Chorus also takes the spotlight on Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, another wondrous piece with literary allusions – this time to Shakespeare. Very likely the greatest organist working today, Paul Jacobs is featured soloist on a live recording of Horatio Parker's Organ Concerto, a virtuoso showcase that builds to a thrilling finale.

Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music will feature these Nashville Symphony Chorus soloists:

Anna Kristine Phillips, soprano
Beth Ring, soprano
Angie Thomas, soprano
Ashlinn Snyder, soprano
Vineécia Buchanan, mezzo-soprano
Emily Longenecker, mezzo-soprano
Valerie Nelson, mezzo-soprano
Hannah Sims, mezzo-soprano
Danny Gordon, tenor
Ron Jensen, tenor
Colby White, tenor
John Logan Wood, tenor
Luke Harnish, baritone
Duane Hamilton, bass

Come early and learn more about the music at our Classical Conversations with Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero, taking place one hour before the concert in the Balcony Lobby.

Following the concert, Maestro Guerrero will lead an informal Q&A at the back of the concert hall, on the Orchestra Level. Please note that the Q&A will not take place on Saturday, November 23, due to a recording session immediately following the performance.
