PERFORMERS
Nashville Symphony | Giancarlo Guerrero
, conductor

Be there for a live recording of two contemporary classics by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Christopher Rouse, who has written “some of the most memorable music around,” according to The New York Times. His Concerto for Orchestra will showcase the virtuosity of the entire Nashville Symphony, in a juggernaut performance that balances explosive rhythmic passages with lyrical string interludes.

It’s the perfect setup for Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, the composer’s urgent reckoning with the forces of fate, which features some of the Russian master’s most brilliant music. Of this piece, which was inspired directly by Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, the composer wrote: “There is not a single line in this Symphony that I have not felt in my whole being and that has not been a true echo of the soul.”
