Beethoven – Symphony No. 2

Written as the composer was first coming to terms with the onset of his deafness, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 is full of humor and vitality — "smiling throughout," as Hector Berlioz put it. Masterful and bursting with energy, this piece heralds the greatness to come in his later works.

  • Beethoven's Second completes the Nashville Symphony's cycle of Beethoven symphonies.
  • A master orchestrator, Brad Warnaar has composed numerous works for the concert stage, movies and television. His Horn Concerto will feature Nashville Symphony principal horn player Leslie Norton.
  • Evocative and colorful, composer Behzad Ranjbaran’s music is influenced by his Persian heritage. His Flute Concerto will feature Nashville Symphony principal flute Erik Gratton.
  • Both Warnaar's and Ranjbaran's works will be recorded for future worldwide release.

Our free Classical Conversations take place one hour before all Classical Series evening concerts in the Balcony Lobby. Led by conductors, guest artists and musicians, these informative talks are a great way to learn the story behind the music.
