It’s a history-making evening as legendary rapper Nas joins your Nashville Symphony for one night only at Ascend Amphitheater.
Nas is recreating his genre-busting 2014 performance of his entire album Illmatic accompanied by the orchestra. As he told NPR about symphonic music and hip-hop, “Music is music. There's no barriers, really, with music. I look at that as old hip-hop from centuries ago. It was the hip-hop of its day.”
A mainstay on the local Nashville music scene, hip-hop artist and rapper Tim Gent opens the night, followed by a short intermission before the Nashville Symphony and Nas take the stage to perform Illmatic. Closing out the evening’s performances is a set from Nas with his DJ and band.
This concert will run two hours and 15 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
