Nashville Symphony | JoAnn Falletta, conductor | Yulianna Avdeeva, piano

PROGRAM
Ravel – La Valse
Liszt – Piano Concerto No. 1
Prokofiev – Suite from Romeo and Juliet

Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet is among the Russian giant’s most beloved works, brimming with lyrical melodies that vividly capture the romance and tragedy at the heart of Shakespeare’s classic tale. Special guest conductor JoAnn Falletta leads the orchestra in a suite that brings together the most memorable moments from the score. Chopin Competition winner Yulianna Avdeeva is the featured soloist in Lizst’s groundbreaking First Piano Concerto, a dazzling tour-de-force that contains all the dramatic power and organic unity of a symphony. The evening opens with Ravel’s dark and swirling re-imagining of the waltz.

Come early and learn more about the music at our Classical Conversations hosted by assistant conductor Nathan Aspinall with conductor JoAnn Falletta, taking place one hour before the concert in the Balcony Lobby.

Following the concert on Friday and Saturday evening, assistant conductor Nathan Aspinall will lead an informal Q&A with JoAnn Falletta at the back of the concert hall, on the Orchestra Level. Please note that the Q&A will not take place following the Sunday, January 12, performance.

The Schermerhorn box office will open at 11 am on Sunday, January 12. Questions, email: [email protected]
