12th Annual Event to Showcase Designer’s Fall 2017 Line

Nashville, Tenn. (November 29, 2016) – Shaun Inman & Sheila Shields, co-chairs of the 2017 Symphony Fashion Show, have proudly announced that the 12th annual event will feature the Fall 2017 line of renowned designer Zac Posen.

One of Nashville’s leading runway shows, presented through a partnership between the Symphony and Gus Mayer of Nashville, the Symphony Fashion Show will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Former Miss Tennessee and CMT television personality Allison DeMarcus will emcee the event, with Janet Ayers serving as honorary chair. The featured entertainer will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Zac Posen’s vision, creativity and originality skyrocketed him to the top of the fashion world in only a matter of years, and his diverse brands have quickly become lauded and revered by both industry colleagues and celebrities alike,” said Inman and Shields. “With his unique talent and truly global reach, Zac is an excellent addition to the long list of illustrious designers who have headlined the Symphony Fashion Show, and we are absolutely thrilled to have him joining us in April.”

"I am very excited for my first trip to Music City, and it is an honor to be part of Symphony Fashion Show and to help support the arts," said Posen.

Raised in New York, Posen began his design training early. He attended Parsons School of Design at 16, followed by London’s Central Saint Martins University. Two years following his first collection, he was awarded one of fashion’s most prestigious honors, Swarovski’s The Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear, by the CFDA. Posen launched his eponymous collection in 2001, with a vision for modern American glamour that married couture technique with striking innovation.

Worn by leading women including Uma Thurman, First Lady Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, Naomi Watts and Rihanna, he has become a staple on the red carpet. His collections have grown to include Zac Posen, ZAC Zac Posen and Truly Zac Posen, with offerings in handbags, accessories, eyewear, fur and fine jewelry. Posen also became the creative director for the Brooks Brother’s signature women’s collection and accessories in fall 2014, and he currently serves as a judge with Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia on Lifetime’s mainstay Project Runway, now in its 15th season.

Proceeds from the Symphony Fashion Show help support the Nashville Symphony’s artistic, education and community engagement programs, which annually reach tens of thousands of children and adults through concerts, free performances and instruction, classroom curriculum and more. Past designers for the Symphony Fashion Show have included Carolina Herrera, Brunello Cucinelli, Christian Siriano, Oscar de la Renta, MARCHESA, Monique Lhuillier, Isaac Mizrahi and Pamella Roland.
