This summer, Nashville Public Radio will be broadcasting the Nashville Symphony's 2009/10 SunTrust Classical Series in its entirety, including such series highlights as "A Musical Space Odyssey," featuring Richard Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra; "Tango and Ravel's Boléro," featuring works by Argentine tango master Astor Piazzolla; and a complete performance of Bach's monumental Mass in B minor. Beginning this Sunday, June 6, the NSO's SunTrust Classical concerts will be broadcast weekly on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on WPLN (90.3-FM). The weekly broadcasts, fourteen in all, will continue through September 5, 2010.
"We're so grateful once again to have this platform for sharing our music with the Nashville community, and I want to thank our friends at WPLN for making this happen," said Nashville Symphony President & CEO Alan D. Valentine. "Our 2009/10 SunTrust Classical Series was filled with amazing performances, and this is a great opportunity for fans to hear the concerts they missed or to revisit the concerts they attended but can't wait to hear again."
