The Nashville Symphony is now accepting applications for its Accelerando music education initiative. Now in its second year, this nationally recognized program is designed to prepare gifted young musicians from underrepresented ethnic communities for pursuing serious music study in college and beyond. Local students from throughout Middle Tennessee are encouraged to apply between now and February 16, 2018.
Applications are available at NashvilleSymphony.org/accelerando. Prospective applicants will also find detailed information about eligibility requirements. Once completed applications are received, all qualifying students will be scheduled for auditions in March 2018.
Essentially a pre-college conservatory program, Accelerando engages individual students in grades 5-11 over a multi-year period with extensive instruction, performance and learning opportunities, and will also offer students and their families assistance with applying for collegiate music programs. All services are provided free of charge.
Members of the public are invited to attend one of four informational meetings to learn more about Accelerando. Members of the Nashville Symphony’s education and community engagement staff will be on hand to answer questions. The schedule for those meetings is as follows:
Additional information on Accelerando can be found in English at NashvilleSymphony.org/accelerando and in Spanish at NashvilleSymphony.org/accelerando-espanol.
