Sectionals & Master Classes

The Nashville Symphony is committed to providing resources, instruction and performance coaching for band and orchestra students in Middle Tennessee. Each year, our musicians teach more than 100 sectionals and master classes to hundreds of music students in youth orchestras and middle and high school band and orchestra programs.

 Master Class Highlights

In October 2016, between rehearsals and performances with the Nashville Symphony, violinist Simone Porter conducted a master class with local students:

 

In November 2016, pianist Boris Giltburg – in town to perform with the Nashville Symphony – conducted a master class with piano majors at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music:


In May 2017, the Nashville Symphony provided a master class at Blair School of Music’s Nashville Summer Orchestral Institute with cellist Zuill Bailey, who was in town to perform with the Nashville Symphony. Nashville Summer Orchestral Institute is an program for high school students, college students, graduate students and adults from across the nation sponsored by Curb Youth Symphony each summer.
