Leslie Fagan

Assistant Principal Flute

Leslie Fagan is currently Assistant Principal Flute of the Nashville Symphony. Prior to winning the position in fall 2017, she held a one-year contract on Piccolo/Third Flute during the Nashville Symphony’s 2016/17 season.

Before moving to Nashville, Leslie was Assistant Principal Flute with the Omaha Symphony from 2007-16. For many years prior, she was an active freelancer and teacher in the Chicago area and was a regular substitute for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, participating in their 2009 Asia Tour. While in Chicago, she was also a substitute/extra player for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and held a one-year position on flute and piccolo during their 2003-04 season.

Formerly a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, she performed with that organization at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. She was formerly Second Flute with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and has also substituted with the St. Louis Symphony.

Leslie was previously an interim studio instructor for flute majors at Roosevelt University in Chicago and is currently Acting Associate Professor of Flute at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. Her teachers include Peter Lloyd, Kathryn Lucas, Trevor Wye and Walfrid Kujala. She holds a Doctorate of Music in Flute Performance from Northwestern University.
