Kirsten Mitchell

First Violin

Kirsten Mitchell joined the Nashville Symphony in 1997. A native of Fargo, ND, Kirsten is the daughter of two classically-trained musicians and was a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra while studying at Fargo South High School. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in performance from DePaul University, where she studied with Mark Zinger and Joseph Genualdi, and has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival in Blue Hill, ME, and the Waterloo Music Festival. Kirsten is a former faculty member at Austin Peay Community School of the Arts and also participated in the Nashville Chamber Orchestra’s education outreach programs. She is an avid animal lover, involved with fostering dogs in the Nashville area for more than five years, and also enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and gardening.
