Joel Reist

Bassist Joel Reist joined the Nashville Symphony in 1998, and has served as principal bass since 2003. Previously, Joel was a member of the New World Symphony. His teachers include Paul Ellison and Anthony Bianco, with whom he studied at Rice University (M.M.) and Carnegie Mellon University (B.F.A.), respectively. While in school, and as a substitute musician, Joel performed with the Houston Symphony and San Antonio Symphony. He was a fellowship recipient to the Aspen Music Festival, and has played for the Spoleto, USA Festival and Utah Festival Opera. Joel is a faculty member of Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music.
