The Accelerando Program

Accelerando is a pathway program that seeks to provide professional performance and career opportunities for students from underrepresented ethnicities in American orchestras.

Accelerando is an immersive program designed for serious music students who have a high musical aptitude and the motivation to pursue a professional music career on a standard orchestral instrument.

Students in the program will:

  • Receive year-round instruction from a Nashville Symphony musician or highly qualified local instructor
  • Receive complimentary tickets for Nashville Symphony Classical Series concerts for the student and their immediate family
  • Participate in solo recital and chamber performance opportunities
  • Gain access to master class performances and workshops with top musicians and educators
  • Attend summer activities including workshops, camps, lessons and/or classes
  • Receive supplementary music instruction at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music in music theory and music history
  • Receive college and career counseling 
  • Receive financial and logistical assistance applying for music school (transportation and room costs, scheduling, etc.)

Accelerando is open to orchestral instrumentalists. Applications for piano, saxophone, guitar and voice are not currently being accepted.
