ABOUT THIS CONCERT
An epic journey for a huge orchestra, Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique sounds every bit as astonishing today as it did two centuries ago. Fueled by romantic obsession, this is a musical fever dream that travels from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy — and it’s the perfect vehicle for the amazing musicians of your Nashville Symphony. Sibelius’ Violin Concerto is stunning showcase for soloist Elina Vähälä, a work full of drama and jaw-dropping musicianship that will leave you in awe of this rising young Finnish talent. Olivier Messiaen’s deeply moving and spiritual Les Offrandes oubliées opens the concert.
