NASHVILLE, Tenn.: After an extensive nationwide search, the Nashville Symphony today announced that orchestra management veteran Steven Brosvik has been hired as the organization’s new chief operating officer.
Brosvik, who has more than two decades of experience in the orchestra field, comes to Music City from the Houston Symphony, where he served as general manager and chief operating officer for nearly 10 years. He will officially join the Nashville Symphony staff in the spring, as the two organizations work together to ensure a smooth transition.
“Steve Brosvik has proven himself to be a capable and dynamic leader at every step of his career, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome him to Nashville,” said Alan D. As chief operating officer for the Nashville Symphony, Brosvik will oversee orchestra and artistic operations, education and community engagement programming, fundraising, marketing and communications.

Brosvik grew up in Minneapolis, Minn., and studied piano performance and Dalcroze pedagogy with Robert Abramson in New York before receiving a degree in Music Business from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Upon completion of his degree, Steve was awarded a position in the 1994-1995 class of Management Fellows with the League of American Orchestras. Over the course of 15 years, he has held positions with The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and San Antonio Symphony before his most recent stint with the Houston Symphony. Steve also spent 10 years in customer service and operations for Northwest Airlines in both Minneapolis and New York.
Steve’s wife Cassandra is an accomplished violinist and the orchestra director at Knox Junior High School in Spring, Texas. The couple has three daughters, ages 15, 14 and 12.
