Nashville Symphony Competing in 2017 Brackets For Good Tournament

February 24, 2017
Nashville Symphony is only Tennessee nonprofit entered in national competition
Funds raised will help to inspire and educate Middle Tennessee students

Nashville, Tenn. (February 24, 2017) – The Nashville Symphony has been selected from over 1,530 nonprofit organizations from across the country who registered to compete in Brackets For Good 2017. Starting Feb. 24, the Symphony will rally supporters to help the organization advance in an online single-elimination bracket-style fundraising tournament.

Donations given through the Brackets for Good campaign will be used in support of the Symphony’s free education programs, which reach children at every stage of development. Music education and community engagement have always been at the heart of the Nashville Symphony’s mission, with programs that reach and engage 80,000 adults and children annually.

The Symphony has an opportunity to win a $100,000 by reaching the top of the brackets – a prize that would ultimately support Accelerando, the Symphony’s music education program that prepares gifted students of diverse ethnic backgrounds to pursue music at the collegiate level and beyond.

“The Nashville Symphony is honored and grateful to be a part of this fun and creative fundraising program, which has the potential to make a significant positive impact on our organization’s ability to serve students across the region,” said Alan D. Valentine, Nashville Symphony president and CEO. “The Symphony has benefitted from an active, dedicated and supportive community over the years, and as the only Tennessee organization involved in Brackets for Good, we hope that people from all over the Volunteer State will rally to this important cause and help us continue our mission of delivering great music and education programs to everyone.”

Indianapolis-based Brackets For Good pairs with corporate and nonprofit sponsors to host online, bracket-style fundraising tournaments in philanthropic communities around the United States. Brackets for Good has raised more than $2.75 million for local charities since its 2012 kick-off contest in Indianapolis.

Participating nonprofits rally enthusiastic donors to out-fundraise their opponents to advance. Through excitement, localized marketing, and corporate involvement, nonprofits earn increased exposure, gain access to free fundraising tools, and are introduced to new donors. Dollars from donors translate to points, giving participants the opportunity to advance in the competition. Competing nonprofits keep donations received during tournament play, no matter how many rounds they advance. The winning organization in each tournament receives an additional Championship grant.
