The Nashville Symphony today welcomed 13 new members to its Board of Directors. New Directors, elected to serve a three-year term, are Dr. David L. Black, Aegis Sciences Corporation; Mrs. Ann Carell, community volunteer; Mr. Ben L. Cundiff, a partner at Cundiff Farms; Mr. Peter Neff, of F.Scott's Restaurant & Jazz Bar; Dr. Jesse B. Register, Director of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools; Mr. James C. Seabury III, CEO of Enterprise Electric LLC; Mr. Brett Sweet, Vice Chancellor for Finance and CFO of Vanderbilt University; Mr. Jeffery Walraven, partner at BDO Seidman; and Mr. Ted Houston Welch, owner of Ted Welch Investments. Returning to the Board in a new three-year term is Ms. Anne L. Russell, attorney with Adams and Reese, LLP. Newly appointed ex-officio members include President-Elect of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League Ms. Susannah C. Culbertson, of Turner Universal, and musician representatives Ms. Rebecca Cole, violin; Ms. Mary Helen Law, viola; and Mr. Michael Samis, cello.
Officers for the 2010-2011 season include James Gooch, Chair; John T. Rochford, Vice Chair; Robert E. McNeilly III, Chair-Elect; Lee Beaman, Immediate Past Chair; David Williams II, Treasurer; and Julie G. Boehm, Secretary.
"Through the years, the Symphony's Board of Directors has played an instrumental role in developing a vision for the Symphony that values both the highest quality of music-making and a genuine commitment to serving the Nashville community," says Alan D. Valentine, President and CEO of the Nashville Symphony. "As we complete the repairs and prepare for our return to Schermerhorn Symphony Center later this season, we at the Symphony look forward to working in close partnership with our new Board and its leadership to help chart an exciting new course for the Symphony as we move forward into the future."
