Haydn - Symphony No. 96 “Miracle”
Strauss - Burleske
Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 14
Debussy - La Mer

Hear a true master of the piano, Emanuel Ax, perform one of Mozart’s most brilliant masterpieces. Piano Concerto No. 14 is a perfect example of Amadeus at his absolute best, full of drama, sparkling energy, memorable melodies and subtly beautiful harmonies. Ax also joins your Nashville Symphony for Richard Strauss’ Burleske, a whirlwind of wildly virtuosic playing that will dazzle and delight. Haydn’s “Miracle” Symphony opens the concert with a marvel of imagination and originality, and the evening comes to an exciting finish with Debussy’s impressionistic La Mer, which vividly captures the vast beauty and awesome power of the ocean.

Presented by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, our free Classical Conversations take place one hour before all Classical Series concerts in the Balcony Lobby. Led by our conductors, guest artists and musicians, these informative talks are a great way to learn the story behind the music you’ll hear onstage.

Following the concert, you’re invited to participate in an informal question-and-answer session with the conductor. The discussion will take place 10 minutes after the close of the concert, at the back of the orchestra level.
