PROGRAM
Britten - War Requiem

One of the most powerful pieces of the 20th century, Britten’s War Requiem offers an extraordinary musical experience unlike any other. This enduring statement about the effects of war also shares an inspiring message of hope. Featuring the Nashville Symphony Chorus, Blair Children’s Chorus and three vocal soloists, the work contrasts the Latin Requiem Mass with the moving words of British poet Wilfred Owen. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear a true masterpiece at Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

ARRIVE EARLY - There will be no late seating for this concert. Please plan your travels accordingly. Run time is 90 minutes, with no intermission.

Presented by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, our free Classical Conversations take place one hour before all Classical Series concerts in the Balcony Lobby. Led by our conductors, guest artists and musicians, these informative talks are a great way to learn the story behind the music you’ll hear onstage.

Following the concert, you’re invited to participate in an informal question-and-answer session with the conductor. The discussion will take place 10 minutes after the close of the concert, at the back of the orchestra level.
