PERFORMERS: Nashville Symphony | Giancarlo Guerrero, conductor | Augustin Hadelich, violin

Sibelius – The Swan of Tuonela from Lemminkäinen Suite
Mendelssohn – Violin Concerto
C.F. Kip Winger – Symphony No. 1  Live Recording | World Premiere | Nashville Symphony Commission
Beethoven – Symphony No. 1

It's an evening of firsts, as we welcome Nashville composer C.F. Kip Winger for the world premiere of his Symphony No. 1, which will be recorded live for future release. Well-known for his work in the rock band Winger, this versatile musician has established himself as a composer with a style that channels the power of rock music into the dynamic sonic palette of the orchestra. Beethoven's own First Symphony paved the way for his brilliant body of work to follow, skillfully embracing the style of his predecessors Mozart and Haydn, while pointing toward innovations that would go on to change the course of music history.

The evening opens with Sibelius’ evocative and moody The Swan of Tuonela, which will showcase the singular sound of the English horn. A study in impeccable craftsmanship, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto will feature the return of audience favorite Augustin Hadelich, who has firmly established his reputation as one of the finest violinists performing today.
