Copland – Symphony No. 3
Aaron Copland’s Third Symphony has been called "the Great American Symphony," with some of the composer's grandest and most inspiring music — including his Fanfare for the Common Man.
- When his Third was premiered, Copland said he intended for the work to “reflect the euphoric spirit of the country at the time.”
- Of the work, Leonard Bernstein said, “The symphony has become an American monument, like the Washington Monument or the Lincoln Memorial.”
