11th Annual Event to Showcase Legendary Designer Carolina Herrera
Nashville, Tenn. (March 30, 2016)
– Sara Evans will be the featured entertainer for the 2016 Symphony Fashion Show, a glamorous evening showcasing the designs of Carolina Herrera and celebrating her 35 years as a fashion icon. Taking place Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the 11th annual event is presented through a partnership among the Nashville Symphony, Carolina Herrera and Gus Mayer of Nashville, with funds going to support the Nashville Symphony’s education and community programs.
Evans will join Herrera and 2016 Symphony Fashion Show Celebrity Chair Lily Aldridge – top international fashion model, Victoria’s Secret Angel and Sport Illustrated Swimsuit issue model – for what promises to be one of the most anticipated events in Nashville this spring. Academy Award-winning actress, film producer, and philanthropist Nicole Kidman is serving as Honorary Chair.
“I’m extremely honored to be part of the 2016 Nashville Symphony Fashion Show,” said Evans. “I have a deep love of fashion, and Carolina Herrera’s designs have always been some of my favorites. I can’t wait to perform and see what everyone’s wearing!”
“With her stunning voice, distinct country-crossover sound and incredible beauty and grace, Sara Evans is the perfect choice for this celebration of Carolina Herrera’s 35 years in fashion,” said Sylvia Bradbury and Suzanne Smothers, 2016 Symphony Fashion Show co-chairs. “We are thrilled to have Sara involved in this amazing night, and we are both looking forward to a memorable and electrifying performance.”
Sara Evans is an award-winning, multi-Platinum-selling country singer and songwriter who has been called “one of the most compelling vocalists of her generation.” Over the years, Evans has developed a reputation for delivering thoroughly satisfying albums full of great songs brought to life by her distinctive voice. She has that heart-in-the-throat quality that turned Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn into legends, coupled with an edgy contemporary sensibility that keeps her at the vanguard of today’s successful country performers.
Evans has sold nearly 6 million records, and her first four albums have been certified Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum. She’s scored five No. 1 hits, among them “Suds in the Bucket,” “Born to Fly,” “A Real Fine Place to Start,” “No Place That Far” and “A Little Bit Stronger,” from her chart-topping 2011 album Stronger. Evans has amassed an impressive collection of awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year from the Academy of Country Music and Music Video of the Year from the Country Music Association for her groundbreaking clip “Born to Fly.”
In addition to her music, Evans is an accomplished author of three books with co-writer Rachel Hauck and co-writes a lifestyle blog, “A Real Fine Place,” where she and sister-in-law Kaelin “K.K” Evans share their passion for fashion, beauty, travel and food. She was the first country artist to compete on ABC’s popular Dancing with the Stars, and she’s been named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People.”
Proceeds from the Fashion Show help support the Nashville Symphony’s education and community engagement programs, which annually reach 80,000 children and adults through concerts, classroom curriculum guides, instrument instruction, scholarships and more.
