PROGRAM

Vaughan Williams – Symphony No. 5

PERFORMERS
Nashville Symphony | Christopher Seaman
, conductor | Benjamin Grosvenor, piano

British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor joins your Nashville Symphony for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2. This early triumph shows Beethoven moving past the influence of Mozart and forging his own original, dramatic flair. "Grosvenor delivers virtuosity beyond his years," says the L.A. Times. "If you haven't heard him, hear him now." Written during World War II, Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No. 5 is possibly the British composer's finest achievement, suffused with music of beauty and lushness, including quotes from beloved hymns.

Come early and learn more about the music at our Classical Conversations, taking place one hour before the concert in the Balcony Lobby.

Following the concert, Christopher Seaman will lead an informal Q&A session in the back of the Orchestra Level.
