With over 20 years in the orchestra field, Steve Brosvik draws from a broad background as a General Manager and Executive Director. Those positions have included work in all areas of orchestral management.
As general manager and chief operating officer for the Houston Symphony, Steve and his team were responsible for the operations and logistics for over 300 concerts, education activities and events per season. That work included developing technical solutions, artistic co-direction and licensing of Houston’s four landmark film projects for live orchestra, five domestic and international tours, seven recordings, two live television specials, local and national radio broadcasts contract negotiations, personnel management and instrument acquisition.
Steve grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and studied piano performance and Dalcroze pedagogy with Robert Abramson in New York before receiving a degree in Music Business from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following that degree work, Steve was awarded a position in the 1994-95 class of Management Fellows with the League of American Orchestras. Over his 15 years with orchestras he has held positions with The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and San Antonio Symphony. His experience outside the orchestra industry includes 10 years in customer service and operations for Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis and New York.
Steve’s wife Cassandra is a violinist. They have three daughters who are ages 15, 14, and 12.
