Celine Thackston

Grants and Research Manager

Celine Thackston joined the Nashville Symphony as Grants and Research Manager in April 2016. Previously, she served as Grants Manager for Second Harvest Food Bank and has worked as a freelance grant writer and consultant, providing support to a portfolio of arts, education, and human services organizations in Nashville, Portland (OR), Los Angeles, and New York.

In addition to being a grammar geek, Celine makes music around town, and is the Founder and Artistic Director of chatterbird, an alt-classical chamber music ensemble. She received a DMA in Music Performance from the University of Oregon, with supporting studies in Arts Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. She holds an MM in Music Performance from NYU, where she studied experimental music. Celine enjoys working as a freelance flutist when needed, having played with orchestras and ensembles such as the Nashville Symphony, Memphis Symphony, and the New York New Music Ensemble, among others. In her spare time, she enthusiastically supports the local arts scene and spends time with her family – husband Matt, daughter Hallie, and two very fluffy cats.
