Where do you perform and where is it?

I need some help with parking. Do you have maps?

I will be visiting the building soon and I am a guest with a disability. Can you give me a bit more information?
Schermerhorn Symphony Center has been carefully designed to be barrier-free and meets or exceeds all criteria established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). For more information, click here.

I recently found out I can't make it to a concert that I previously purchased tickets for. What can I do?
You can donate tickets for a tax deduction or exchange into another concert. For more information, click here.

What should I wear?
There is no dress code. Anything that makes you feel comfortable is fine. Most people wear business clothes or slightly dressy casual clothes, but you’ll see everything from khakis to cocktail dresses. In the interest of other patrons, please be considerate of those in the audience who may have allergies and refrain from wearing scented products such as cologne or perfume.

When should I arrive?
We suggest that you plan to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. This will allow time to find your seat, relax and read the program notes. In the interest of all patrons and performers and to minimize any distractions, latecomers will be admitted in accordance with the late seating policy.

What is the late seating policy?
We provide two opportunities for late seating. For a Classical performance - one after the completion of the first work on the program and another at the end of the first movement of the work immediately following intermission. For Pops/Special Event performances -one after the completion of the second work on the program and another after the completion of the first work immediately following intermission.

Patrons who arrive after the performance has begun will be admitted during these pre-determined breaks only and will be seated in a designated late seating area. Sorry, no exceptions will be made!

We may be hungry, what are your food and drink options?
Schermerhorn Symphony Center is equipped with 7 bars throughout the hall, as well as a café and restaurant. For more information, please click here.

How long is a typical Nashville Symphony performance?
Performance length varies, but a typical performance runs approximately two hours with one 20-minute intermission.

When do I applaud?
Audiences tend to wait until all movements or sections of a piece are completed before clapping. In some pieces of music, the orchestra will pause briefly for about 10-15 seconds between movements. The audience holds their applause during the short breaks in music, until the end of the entire piece. The conductor will signal when a piece is finished by putting his or her arms down and turning to the audience. You can check your program before or during the performance so you'll know how many movements to expect.

Why should we wait to applaud until the end of the entire piece?
Holding applause between movements is considered to be respectful to the performers’ concentration and mindful of musical continuity.

Do you have a lost and found?
Certainly. If you misplaced something after a concert, please call us at 615.687.6450.

What do I do if I lost my ticket?
Don't worry, if you lost your ticket we can still help you out. Come to our Box Office, located at Schermerhorn Symphony Center, and we will void your old ticket and reprint you a new one. And don't worry, it's free!

What if I need to cough?
Everyone gets the urge to cough now and then. The less worried you are about coughing, the less likely you are to feel the urge! So chances are you’ll feel less need to cough if you are prepared:
- If you have a cold, then take some cough medicine in advance and bring unwrapped lozenges with you. Have a few handy when the music begins.
- Try to “bury” your cough in a loud passage of music. If this is impossible and you begin to cough a lot, then it’s perfectly acceptable and appropriate to quietly exit the concert hall. The ushers will tell you when you are able to re-enter the concert.

Can I take photographs?
Cameras and other recording devices are not permitted in Laura Turner Concert Hall.

What about cellular phones?
Take a break from the outside world. Please be sure to turn off your cell phones, pagers and all other audible electronic devices (including watch alarms), before the concert begins.

Can I bring my kids?
We love kids but we discourage the attendance of young children to an evening performance because they tend to be too long. We do recommend that if children come they be above at least 6 years of age. Children may attend any Nashville Symphony concert as long as they have a ticket - we regret we cannot allow any babies without a paid ticket (no lap seats available). Symphony staff will ask parents to take disruptive children out of the concert hall. Discounted children's tickets are available for many performances and can be purchased by calling or visiting our box office. The Nashville Symphony’s Pied Piper concerts are created especially for audience members ages 3-8.

I'm a composer and I would like to submit my scores for consideration. What should I do?
Thank you for your interest but we are currently not accepting unsolicited music and scores.
