ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Crackling with speed and energy, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 is one of the master’s most vibrant, most lighthearted works, full of rambunctious, rollicking fun. Baritone Thomas Hampson, one of the greatest singers of our time, joins the orchestra to perform two new works by American composer Richard Danielpour: the probing Songs of Solitude and the dramatic War Songs, which receives its world premiere in Nashville. The evening opens with Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, which vividly captures the bracing sights and sounds of Scotland’s rugged outdoors.
