A Current Biography

For more than 40 years, the Nashville Symphony Chorus has regularly presented significant works from the classical choral repertoire, from Baroque music to contemporary. During Dr. George Mabry’s 10-year tenure as Chorus Director, the Chorus has been featured on five CDs: Celebration in Song, a collection of sacred music recorded in 2000; Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, released on the Naxos label in 2003; Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, released on Decca in 2006; and Corigliano’s A Dylan Thomas Trilogy and Menotti’s Amahl & the Night Visitors, both released in 2008 on Naxos.

The Chorus, now numbering 146 voices in concert, performs at least twice each season as part of the Nashville Symphony’s SunTrust Classical Series, in addition to special concerts such as Handel’s Messiah each December. Recent highlights include performances with Music Director Designate Giancarlo Guerrero of both the Verdi and Mozart Requiems.
