Bernstein's zesty Candide Overture kicks off a program that then turns pensive with Samuel Barber’s deeply emotional Adagio for Strings. George Gershwin’s snazzy, stylish Rhapsody in Blue gives way to Aaron Copland’s tribute to Lincoln using the president’s own immortal words.
