World-Renowned Designer and Gus Mayer Team Up to Present Mizrahi’s 2010 Fall Collection

October 20, 2009

Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi will team with Gus Mayer, a luxury designer clothing store with a longstanding presence in Green Hills, to present the v2010 Symphony Spring Fashion Show on April 20, 2010. Hosted by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, the New York-based designer will be in attendance at Schermerhorn Symphony Center to present his 2010 Fall Collection to Nashville audiences.

Nashville Symphony Orchestra League Board President Judy Foster is pleased to announce that Troy Solarek and Pamela Kurio-Poe will chair the 2010 event. The special musical guest and emcee will be announced at a later date.

“We are thrilled to have Isaac Mizrahi, one of the most recognizable and respected names in fashion, involved in what is increasingly known as the annual fashion event in this part of the country,” Solarek said. Kurio-Poe added, “To have a world-class designer on hand personally to introduce his collection is a special treat for Nashville. It will certainly be a don’t-miss event.”

Born in Brooklyn, Mizrahi has, in addition to his designer clothing line, created costumes for movies, theater, dance and opera in collaboration with such luminaries as Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Mikhail Baryshnikov and The Roundabout Theatre Company, among others. In 2002 Mizrahi received the Drama Desk Award for his costume designs for The Women. Last year, he made his costume design debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Orpheus and Eurydice.

Also an accomplished author, Mizrahi wrote the comic book series Sandee the Supermodel and in 2008 published How to Have Style. He has been featured in films and TV shows including Sex & the City, Ugly Betty and Celebrity Jeopardy. For many years, Mizrahi hosted his own series on the Oxygen and Style networks and can currently be seen in his daily web-series WATCHISAAC.COM.
