Reverend Tony G. Sirten, senior pastor of The Church of The Living Water in Goodlettsville, has been announced the recipient of the second annual Edwina Hefner Community Leadership Award. The award will be presented during the Nashville Symphony's annual "Let Freedom Sing!" concert, which takes place on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

In addition to his duties as senior pastor, Rev. Sirten works extensively as the conservator for several residents of the HQM Nursing Facility in Donelson. At HQM, Rev. Sirten volunteers his time and labor by insuring that the residents are receiving the best possible care, scheduling doctor's appointments and arranging transportation, as well as celebrating birthdays and ministering to their spiritual needs, among other things.

Named for an outstanding Nashville civic leader who strongly advocates the celebration of all cultures and forms of expression, the Nashville Symphony's Edwina Hefner Community Leadership Award recognizes individuals helping to make the world a better place through their leadership efforts and volunteerism.

In its 15th season, the "Let Freedom Sing!" concert celebrates the life and work of American civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Led by guest conductor Karen Lynne Deal, the inspirational program will include a mix of traditional, gospel, and modern works reflecting the spirit and influence of Dr. King. "Let Freedom Sing!" will also include performances by the Celebration Chorus, Celebration Youth Chorus, the Fairfield Four and Settles Connection.

Ticket vouchers are free, but are currently sold out. Those without vouchers may be seated beginning at 6:45 p.m. for all unclaimed seats. Seating will occur on a first come, first served basis. Contiguous seating cannot be guaranteed.
