The Music Mobile

The Nashville Symphony takes its education programs on the road

The Nashville Symphony has partnered with Tennessee Titans Placekicker Rob Bironas to develop an exciting new project: the Music Mobile.

To be housed in an outfitted tour bus, the Music Mobile is a rolling music activity center featuring interactive multimedia exhibits and our Instrument Petting Zoo, a hands-on introduction to classical, country and bluegrass instruments. Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to participate in music-making experiences, live music demonstrations and more when this classroom on wheels rolls into town to visit schools, community centers, parks and festivals.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to have a hands-on learning experience with music. As part of the Nashville Symphony's mission to share music education with people from across the Middle Tennessee region, the Music Mobile will:

  • bring music activities to 150 community locations annually
  • reach more than 30,000 children throughout Middle Tennessee each year
  • serve as the region's instrument lending library for at-risk youth
  • inspire and motivate participants to pursue musical studies
  • bring music education to underserved populations

"Children, when introduced to music, are more likely to succeed in school and in life," says Bironas, who serves as the Music Mobile’s spokesperson. "Applying the same commitment to mastering an instrument can be as challenging as attaining touchdowns on a football field. I am proud to be a part of this project because it’s one way I can help share the life-changing power of music education."

The Music Mobile project is still currently in development. For more information, email education@nashvillesymphony.org.
